View Full Version : 69 RS Headlight Buckets same as Std?
cwb90 Jun 30th, 08, 06:49 PM Can someone please tell me if the 69 RS and std headlight buckets are the same? I bought a set off ebay and they were suppose to be off a 69 RS but they are identical to a set I have from a std car. Are they the same except for the bell crank, dooor, brackets, etc? Thanks for any help.

RamAirDave Jun 30th, 08, 07:00 PM I think the "buckets" that the headlights sit in and the retaining rings screw to will interchange (not 100% sure). The brackets that bolt to the radiator support are completely different.

I'll second that! My memory is weak at best but I think I put my standard buckets in my RS brackets waaaaay back when. I can shoot a pic of the RS bracket if ya need it.

RickD Jul 1st, 08, 06:53 AM IIRC the buckets are the same but the RS takes either two left sides or two right sides.

cwb90 Jul 1st, 08, 04:36 PM If the buckets are the same, am I better off buying the rest of the brackets, hinges, doors, etc. or would it be cheaper to buy the assemblies for $360? I plan on doing a electric conversion.

prostreet69camaro Jul 1st, 08, 04:57 PM What are you calling a bucket? The part that the headlight sits in or the part that mounts to the radiator support and the headlight cover swivels?

He's asking about the buckets that secure the headlamps.
yellow69RS Jul 3rd, 08, 09:34 PM OK The search is over!!!!! I found my RS buckets and brackets, standard buckets and brackets and a buffer I've been searching for for at least a year. I can't imagine that the buckets are different between RS and standard. The one's I have for my RS are RT and Left. The pics are here.

cwb90 Jul 4th, 08, 06:44 AM Jeff,
Thanks for the pics. I was confused on what I was referring to but it was the bracket I wanted to see. I now see the difference in them. I have the std brackets and need to get the RS ones. Thanks again for the pictures and to everyone else who helped. If anyone has a set of RS brackets to sell let me know.

Thank you! :hurray: I don't know whether to jump for joy over finding that buffer or :clonk:over my stupidity for not seeing the buffer a looonnnng time ago. If not for your request I'd still be looking. I left it there so hopefully I remember it's there when I need it.
