View Full Version : Tic Toc Tach question

I have a non tic toc tach dash in my 68:

Not too long ago I installed autometer guages in the console which included (temp, volt, oil and an electric clock) using a harness that I ordered with it.

I decided not to add a column mounted type tach in the car. Instead I want to add a Tic Toc Tach to the dash and change out the autometer electric clock in the console for an Autometer fuel gauge.

Questions:

1. Other than the OER repro unit itself, is there another harness I need?

2. How big of a job is this? Are the directions pretty easy to follow?

I want to plan ahead on this one. Thanks for any help.

I think someone on here has a tic toc tach for sale with some console harnesses too.

You will need a new flexible circuit board for the back of the cluster.

Where do I buy the circuit board?

Also, on doing a search I read something about needing a lens with a hole in the middle for clock adjustment.

Anyone know who sells those?

Ricks, Classic, most vendors that sell the tach will also have the circuit board.
Yes, you have to drill a hole for the stem.
You will also need to replace the wiring harness or custom wire the tach.

I bought the console harness when the autometer gauges were added to the console. Is that the same harness? If not, what is the product called?

Aside from drilling a hole in the lense are there any repros drilled out already?

Since you already have the Autometers installed, I would just custom wire the tachometer. For the Autometer fuel gauge, you'll need to get 0-90ohm to use stock fuel sender. Wire it up as per instructions.

One word of advice when you buy the new printed circuit board, buy a new dash lens as well. Drill hole in the old one to use as template for new one.

I did a similar upgrade this past spring. I originally installed factory console gauges and tic toc tach using console conversion harness. I'm now switch the gauges over to Autometers.
