Hi there,

I've come here by way of the team chevelle forums. I've been the previous owner of 2 67 Malibu's, and I'm looking to do a convertible, leaning towards 1st Gen Camaro Convertible this time.

Just like the Chevelle verts, pricing seems to be all over the place on these verts, but the "project car" price for camaros appears to be a least more sensible than the velles.

I'm going to be doing a pro-touring car, so I'm not all that concerned with matching numbers and all that. I'm really looking for something I can take and do a full custom restomod, custom interior, nice small block, shaved handles perhaps, etc.

What price range should I expect for a project car that's more or less in the "ready to be restored" condition? Maybe a little body panel work, and the typical stuff you'd see on a 40 year old car...

i think it would make a difference in what year you wanted the 69's are always a little higher from what i see..i sold a rs convert last year that needed the rear metal replaced..but was complete car for 18.5k ..then turned around and bought another one that needs a few panels replaced complete for 15k both 69's..guy on pro-touring.com has a 68 with a ls1 motor for around 12k..looks to be a pretty soild car..hope this helps..

Thanks, that is helpful.

I'm not all that picky, 67, 68, and 69 would be great as a starter. Thanks for the pro-touring site, looks like some good info there as well.

The challenge I think I'll face will be finding a car in my area, being out in the boonies, less inventory to be had. Maybe I'll get lucky in some barn somewhere...

For a decent running/rust free starter, $16k-$19K, depending on where you buy and how complete it is.

I would stay away from a 69 every one and there grandmothers are doing them. Do a 67 or 68
I would do a 67 but that is because I all ready have one plus I like them better then the 68's.
