I have researched back and forth and come up with two answers to the question of what size modern radial is the best match to the original tires. Which is it: 205-70-R14 or 215-70-R14? I am ordering redlines and need to know. Thanks!

I ordered my early 67SS/RS car w/ steel painted rims, dog-dish hubcaps and D-70/14 Firestone Wide Oval Red Lines!

They are a modern 200-70/14 and run between 25.3" and 25.5" tall depending on whose brand you buy. (I think the F/S's are 25.3"????). It's been years and years is all.......

PS., and my car is a real 350SS/RS b/c I checked the SS line before the RS line!!

Thanks guys. I called Coker and they said 215-70-14. So, what to believe? I guess I will just look for measurements like those you provided.

The D70-14 nylon 2 ply was factory on the '67 SS. A D70-14 is 25.4" tall, tread width is 6.2" and section width is 7.9". A 205/70-14 is 25.4"and has an 8.2" section width. I couldn't find a tread with for the metric size tire... The 215/70-14 is 25.9" tall with an 8.7" section width and has a 7" wide tread...

The 205 is the closest... Now let me ask, have you thought about some of the tires Coker offer in orig sizes?

I looked at the Coker site for radial redlines - these: http://store.coker.com/prod/p20570r14-bfgoodrich-redline-radial.html - and was trying to tell which was closest. On the Universaltire.com site they have the same tires and they provide the overall diameters and tread widths for the RLs. Looks like the 205/70/14s are the closest - 25.35" diameter and 6.10" tread width - http://www.universaltire.com/cart.php?target=product&product_id=25027&category_id=325.
