Get ya self a 6 cyl. and stock exhaust....;-) The more the power the more the noise. Dyna helps a smidge.

Just a smidge huh? Here's the crazy part. To embarassed to admit it, but the sound scares my dog. So, consequently, she doesn't like to go in this particalar car. Thought it might help her.

Maybe a bit more then a smidge, the problem lies with dyna matiing the trunk too or at least the rear seat back and every where the sound gets through. Much to cover and the stuff aint cheap.

Yes sound deadening is expensive. However well worth the money. I just did my second car with second skin and the difference is incredible. I use one layer of damplifier and one layer of luxury liner pro on the floor and one layer of damplifier on the outer door skin, I also use damplifier on the front half of the rear wheel wells just back far enough so that it cannot be seen from the trunk unless you get inside the trunk. Now you can have that nice flow master sound on the outside without that drone sound on the inside. Beware however, you will find out how tight your interior is as now you will be able to hear all those little rattles and squeaks you couln't hear before. I did both of my camaros 67 and 68 for under a $1000. $300 would easily do the job. Good luck with the dog.

I agree Second skin is the way to go the best and most cost effective.

I assume "second skin" is a similar product? My exhaust exit pointing at a down angle just behind the rear tires. This is where most of it comes from.. and thru the trunk/backseat area. sound resonable to you gents. I'm thinking I only need to cover the back half. The car is free from squeaks and rattles so far..

This is also worth a read.

It may be a little ameteur, but it's the best (only) comparison I can find.

Yes, it favors Second Skin's Damplifier over Dynamat in both price and performance.

Hi,
I used Fat-Mat from e-bay, and am very satisfied with the improvement. It's a bit cheaper than the others, easy to apply, sticks unbelievably, and really makes a difference. I got 100 feet of it. did some double layers on tunnel, did the floors, firewall, behind and under rear seat. Still have to finish the door areas, but already a great improvement. Been a year now, and no loosening. Have heard others complain of slow shipping, but had mine in 3 days.

So if you do the trunk area , How do you keep it from showing? No matter what you use. I don't want all that shiney crap to be noticable..

Can't really answer that one, there is a lot of echo and noice from the trunk, that's for sure. I thought about covering it with the fatmat, then carpet, but not sure about that. I put two layers between the back of the seat and the traunk divider, and that helped alot. Unless you had a big speaker system, maybe you wouldn't want to have the stuff in the trunk.

You could get a carpet mat for the trunk and attach the dynamat (or whichever brand) to the underside of it. That way the carpet mat and deadener are all removable in one piece. Just beware of the moisture that might collect underneath it.
