Has anyone glass beaded the finned covers for a 69Z? I have an old pair and was considering doing so in order to make them look like the original (non-polished) style-

If you have an original (non-polished) pair that have simply aged and need to be improved, glass-beading them at LOW PRESSURE (10-15 psi) can sometimes "bring them back", but the best solution is to send them to Jerry MacNeish (www.z28camaro.com) to be re-skinned.

If they're the polished service replacements, I'm not aware of a proven method to re-create the original surface texture.

:beers:

That's what I figured. They are polished service replacements that have aged. Thanks for the confirmation, and yes, Jerry would be best for original reskins!

Jerry can reskin polished covers...he took a set of those and made me a set that looks original...at least on the outside. They have the drippers on the inside.

i have found that blasting them with plastic media does a real good job of cleaning covers. no pitting in aluminum leaves a clean dull surface.
