On my 69 Z the tachs keep burning up not sure why. Can someone send me a diagram how the tach sould be hooked up?

This might help. Look in lower right corner of diagram. Are you running original wiring harness for engine and dash? Brown wire on Neg (-) lead from coil should be running to terminal on back of tach as shown. The other 2 terminal are for pwr to the tach. How long does it work before it burns up your tach?

Yes have the brown wire going to the tach hooked up to the neg on the coil. Is verys but on average about one mine and starts to smoke.

Do you have anything else hooked up to the (-) side of the coil?

Yes the Distriburator wire and the capacitor wire both are black wires.

Sounds like it's hooked up correct. Might want to try swapping coils to see if there is a problem with the primary side of the coil.
