Im running a Mitchell 540/9.5:1 w/350cc alum heads, the cam is Hyd 236/246 .553/.571 114. The carb is an 870 modified holley DP. The choke horn has not been removed but the butterfly has. I guess what Im asking is could this engine better utilize a higher flowing carb say 950 cfm, or will an 825 race demon pick it up. Do the demons out flow there rated specs? I plan on trying a hyd roller in the future. Any suggestions for another carb choice or anyone with experiance swapping carbs on these big motors would be appreciated.
Thanks Rich

We had a 1000 race Demon on our 534". Later went to a 1050 8896 Dominator.
For streetability...I`d put either the 1000 Demon or a holley 1000 HP.
The demon will need to be finessed but once dialed in runs good.
The holley has the reputation for out of the box excellent performance.
Both carbs ran 10`s BTW.
Current best is 10.19 ET @ 130+ MPH with the dominator, street driven to and from the track nearly a 80 mile round trip

I have had good luck with the 8896 on a dual plane. You really need to change cams. You have a very good set of heads and a street cam that would work well in a much smaller motor. I don't know the rest of the drivetrain specs but if you have a decient convertor and some gear in it go much bigger on the cam.
