The lean you are talking about is very common to first gens. You can find lots of posts about it.

When I had my springs replaced 8 years ago the "factory replacement" for the mono was a 3-leaf set up. Had a shop do it and it was no big deal at the time, just beyond my means. Not sure if this answers your question...if you're going for the concourse restoration then you probably want the monos.

With 1st gen mono perches, you can use the 3-leaf replacements with no mods. I did the same, used original mono shock plates, etc.

If any gap bothers you, then make shims to fill them and go!

I ran '68 'Bird, 5-leaf multi's under my mono spring car for years fine w/ gaps and now have the JCW, 3-leaf mono replacements under her that I put my second and third 'Bird leaves in them to better match my about 525 pound cut MOOG 5536 front coil springs!

My rearend is up high like it was w/ my coil-over shock overload springs so is going to look funny w/ my 255/45-17's but will be fine w/ a pair of big slicks!! Like a modern 295 or 305.

I've got a '67 Coupe. I upgraded to a 3 leaf setup with a 2" drop. The rearend I used has multi-leaf spring perches. Everything is new; pads, springs, shocks, etc. I found that the rearend would shift backwards, about 1" on the passenger side, when I come off the line hard. I made a few calls and found that DSE makes a kit, part # 041101. I bought the kit and attempted to install it yesterday. I soon realized that this kit does not work, if you are using the multi-leaf perches. It is designed to work with the stock mono leaf perches.

Now I've got to buy some mono leaf spring perches. Anybody got a pair?
