I have a 69 rs paint delete car..By what i understand from the "experts" 15.5 percent of the 243,095 cars built in 1969 were rs optioned. 1.5 percent of the total production was paint delete. Any info anywhere on the number of paint delete rs cars? Or does that info simply not exist ?

No such breakdown exists. There is plenty of info on "special paint" (not paint delete) cars here for the searching and reading.

No such thing as paint delete. The - - code means specail paint instructions. Could be anything from a stripe delete on an SS or Z28 to a color from a different GM car line. No car ever left the factory without paint.

Sorry, i know its special paint and not paint delete..I also understand it could mean stripes and not neccessarily color..I am also confused about something else and would like clarification. Didnt rs cars not have a given stripe desigination? I thought the bumble bee that turned up the hood and the pinstripes over the wheel opening were both used on the rs, but neither was "base" stripe and had to be specified. is this correct? if so, wouldnt special paint on an rs mean just that? I know z-28 cars had the hood stripes as a base offering and the ss had the hockey stick..Did the rs have a stripe that you had to special order to get it deleted? Could special paint mean a stripe was added instead of deleted? Or was it deleted stripe only? please claify..thanks for the info..

the RS cars CAME WITH the pin stripe on the fenders, the -- could be as simple as someone requesting they NOT be there ...
playing with %'s like you did will NOT get you an accurate production number, only a WAG, ask any math major why ...

Yup, that's why statisticians and other mathematicians always preface their comments with, "Statistically speaking,......" Or other words to that affect. Anyone want to get into standard deviation? :)
