I realize this question can only be answered subjectively as the exact answer doesnt exist in any of the data bases. Of the 243,000 plus cars built in 1969 15.5 percent were rs optioned. Thats just shy of 38,000 rs car built in 1969. My car is also special paint which accounted for 1.5 percent of the 1969 total production. Thats under 4000 cars built in 1969 with special paint. Since special paint data was spread out over the entire line (z-28/base cars/ss cars/rs cars etc)..Any educated quess as to the rarity of a special paint rs car. It seems to me it should put my car in 1 of a couple thousand for sure. Any one have any idea? thanks

Out of the total production of 243,085 1.62% were special paint (by your 4000 number).
If you apply that percentaage to the RS production figure of 37,773 that makes it one in 613 RS cars with specail paint......... BUT we have no way of knowing how many RS had special paint could have been alll 4000 or one. Just based on the total production is a rare car. About 2% of each year or the first gens had fold down rear seats, I think I've only seen six in my life and I own one of those six.

The statisticians figure it the way Jeff suggested.

Just remember that "rare" does not always equate to "valuable". While I think a Carolina Blue Camaro (if verified) is pretty cool, I doubt it adds any value to the car. As an example, a pink Cadillac (AKA Mary Kay) is rare, but if I were buying a Caddie, the LAST color I would want would be pink. BTW, I'm not equating Carolina Blue to Mary Kay Pink!!

Doesn't matter how many times you ask the question, you'll get the same answer...
