well this is what has happend so far. a few months ago i went out just cruzing around when i found a 1990 rs camaro in an aly(of coarse). i bought it for $250. the problem was that there was no trans, and the front end was smashed pretty well. but from the front of the doors back is in perfect condition. now my questions is should i through the engine in my 68 which where it came from ,not orginal , or into the 1990 rs where i think that it has better suspension.
both cars right now are engineless and mods to suspension is little on both. i have a tranny for the 1990 now(700R4).im just at the point where i dont know which one to build up.new or old???
thanx for the opinion

If the body is good on the 68 I'd throw the 700R4 and 383 engine in it. Body parts could get expensive for your 90 since it always seems worse on the inside than it looks, but its hard for me to guess just based on your description. The 68 would also be easier to get passed any emmissions or smog inspection if there are any in your area.

Just my opinion.

as for the 68 the whole front end hs been replaced by refab metal. also on the 1990 body panals each fender only cost 42 bucks brand new. oh and there are no smog test here. isnt that great http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
thanx for the opinions

"hey" to another central IL member (I live 15 minutes north of champaign)
that's a tough call
two awesome body styles
but I think the 383/700r4 combo would rock in the first gen
for 250 bones you can play with the 90 as you go

I think the 68 would be lighter and you get alot more attention with an older classic car.

I vote for the 68, just because it is an older, classic car. The question you need to ask yourself is if the 383 is making the power you want for the '68, where a lot of other 1st gens have been beefed up, or would you rather have a smokin' '90, where not so many 3rd gens are beefed? For a nice sleeper, the '90 is the way to go, but to make a nice classic muscle car, stick it in the '68, which is what I would do.

It really depends on what you want. Creature comforts, and a car that handles really well (late model), or the coolness of the early model http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif Either would be great, depending on what you goals are. For a daily driver, I would have to lean towards the newer car for the better handling and brakes (although those can be added to the early one as well).

The 68 will appreciate...and be worth more in the end.

how quick do you plan to make it go? 11's? 10's? 9's? faster?

well as fast as i can with respect to not blowing up the engine. i mean if i use the turbo its not going to be full boost. this turbo is big enough for this block also. it is off a detriot semi engine and ive ran the numbers and it should do pretty well if hooked up properly. which i am capable of.
i am aiming in the 7 sec. in the 1/8 with out the turbo just nuts. and with the turbo who knows
any opinions critism
thanx

The 90 with stock suspension will hook much better than the 68 (unless you do some heafty modifications.) The torque arm setup on those cars is awesome.
