Im in the midst of doing a bunch of upgrades at once and need some help selecting the right brake system for my set up..
Im getting a new set of 17" wheels
Hotchkis Drop Springs Front & Back
I currently have 4 wheel manual drum brakes and I know they are going to look like *&^% with the larger wheels, not to mention I need more stopping power..
Im thinking of 4 wheel disc. Dont know if I should go with Manual or Power. Suggestions? Difference?
What size rotor was stock? I see kits with 11" rotors and I dont know if this is a good size or not.
I like the cross drilled rotor and the C4 Vette setup but dont know if I can afford it on all 4 wheels..
What did some of you guys do? Suggestions?
I have a budget of around $1000 or a little more if needed..
Thanks!

Stock was 11".
I really really like my 12.2" wilwood setup.
Unlike ALL the other brake packages out there, which without exception are repackaging parts from newer cars, Wilwood makes their brakes. They are light, they are very good stoppers, not horribly expensive unless you go crazy with 14" rotors and 6 piston calipers. And they were designed to work in a manual system.
My Wilwood system doesn't even need a proportioning valve. The front and rear calipers were sized and designed to work together.
Talk to frank at prodigy, he'll fix you up. 4 disk brakes, manual master, all the plumbing, emergency brakes that work, for way less than 2k,

13" C4 or C5 Vette or 98-02 F body in the front- buy everything at whatever your favorite parts store happens to be, and make a bracket using the template at www.pozziracing.com.
cut the upper boss down on your stock drum spindles so the 1/4" steel bracket bolts flat, and bolt it all together. you should have about $500 in the front if you get all new parts.
as for the rears, scour the junkyards for an S10 Blazer with rear disc brakes and grab that. if you get one off a 4X4 Blazer, you will need a set of S10 Extreme rear brake rotors. i can't see this setup costing more than a few hundred $$$ to get going. this setup is very similar to the 98-02 F body rear brakes, but will be easier to find in the junkyard.
i don't know what master cylinder to use in a 4 wheel disc configuration- but i'm sure someone else can help you out.
all together, you should come in under your $1000 budget and have 13" brakes in the front with 12" brakes in the back.
the Wilwood setups might be nice- but i'd hate to have to get a new caliper or pads for it in a small town. the stuff i listed is all available in a day or 2 from any parts store in the country.

After all that decision making Ive decided to go with a stock style 4 wheel disc conversion. Reason being that this way I could still use my 15" wheels with fats and skinnys at the drag strip or whenever needed.. Thanks anyway for the information..
