wow finally got my 89 iroc running again,
went to adjust the rockers and sure enough there is
coolant on the back cylinder ,i realized this after jacking the
car up and thought it was just water from the rain ,
it looked like it was leaking out of the bolt hole for
the coil bracket ,a two hour steady drip that stopped after
i put the coil bracket back on .

i was hoping it was the head gasket because i had a internal loss
of coolant ,

any one have any ideas of why this would be considered a cracked
block

Have you pressure tested it for coolant leaks? Third gen's are notorious for leaky intake gaskets. The TPI engine's especially. I looked at a couple of IROC's to purchase recently and I know one had a leaky intake gasket even though the seller claimed nothing was up and another one had the intake gasket replaced a few years ago.

Take your radiator cap off and pressure test it. Another thing we did when I was in the car business was spray carb cleaner or brake cleaner near the area, if it bubbles up there is a leaking intake. But first things first, pressure test that thing!
