Finally got the car painted this weekend. Two friends of mine, one
who does custom painting and pinstriping, the other who runs the
ppg paint store laid the stripes and shot the car. Not to mention
they finished all the body work I missed. They showed me a lot of
bodywork flaws and how to correct them, and how to shoot paint
without freaking out when problems happen. It took 5 weeks part
time to finish. I know I pissed them off with so many questions, but
after buying dinner a few times were still friends. I know the decklid
stripes run down trunklid, but I wanted them this way. They have a
guy who is gonna cut and buff it next week.

Thats the best feeling to have all that work done that fast, they just saved you a tone of $$$$$. Great job and nice contrasting colors... Congratulation Bill

Looks like a nice job, are you happy with it.When I sanded mine I used 1000 grit DA then 1500 DA and the 3000 grit Trizact wet on a DA.Trizact will save you a ton on buffing.Did you use a stripe kit or did you do it by eye....

Dave, We used a stripe kit however since we painted the whole
decklid and hood white first , we had to mess with the tape lines
that were included. It took about 2 hours to lay stripes. Took
measurements out of a restoration book. They have a guy who
is gonna sand it for about 400.00 bucks. The painter laid 3 good
wet coats of clear. I wanna watch someone do it before I try it.
