I'm going to be ordering my wheels and tires tonight from a local wheel shop my wife worked at years ago.. The guy is telling me he doesn't recommend 17x9.5 on the back saying he does not think it would fit.. Although I know many of you have this size, so I'm going to order them anyway..

For the rear tires, can I run 45 series rather than the 40 that is commonly used? I want a bit taller of a tire on the rear to get a bit of that old school look.. So will 275/45/17 fit on the rear of my 68?

Nevermind, after searching and searching I found that no one makes a 45 series in 275 width. Thats kind of a bummer. The front wheels always look a bit taller than the fronts with 45s in the front and 40s in the rear...

After measuring my 68 I found the 9.5 inch 17's wouldnt fit on back of my 68SS so I went with 8 in wide wheels and 255/50/17's in back---they are 2 inch taller than stock and it the wheel well great---I put the 235/45/17's in front with 2 inch lowering springs and it looks good to me---good luck in your decision...snowdog
