Need some thoughts on the trim tag. Vin lines up with 01C date. Is it real or fake. I have no history on the car. All of the normal stuff is there to make you believe it is a Z. Need your thoughts ASAP. Looking to move on this car. Thanks Reactorhttp://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c201/Reactor111/69RSSS_and_69Z28_067.jpg

I'm leaning towards repro. Rivets have been replaced at the very least.

My thoughts as well. What is the link to this car. If the tag is suspect maybe the car is too.

Car is for sale locally by owner. He had the car restored about 4 yrs ago. Car looks good. He is not standing behind that it is for sure a Z. He said it was like it is now when he purchased it. (as far as the X33 trim tag) He freely admits the drive train is not OE. At the very worst, it is a great looking clone car. I may make an offer taking that into account. At best, it could be a Z. I have not heard anyone say that it is a re pop for sure. I will just have to factor that into the price. Still looking for others to weigh in. Thanks for the replies so far.

Looks like there may be alot of layers of paint on the firewall, trim tag looks pretty clean compared to the firewall. IMO

I really hate this game.
But this one is a repro. Strange colors to repro.

Kurt just curious why you think that's strange colors to repro??

Fathom Green & Midnight Green Interior.....Its' a good color combo and pretty popular...isn't it?

It's a repo. Why the colors? I would guess that they are the original colors of the car, which takes out the task of covering up/removing all the original paint in the inconspicous areas.

Sometimes car fakers get lazy and leave bumperettes on instead of the tall bumper guards. You need to look for all the signs of being a real car as well. Dual exhaust bracket, Muncie speedo cable hole etc. Do a search on the topic. If nothing else take the rear seat back out and look for the telltale X3 or X7 crayon marking. Maybe, just maybe the tag was replaced for a legitimate reason.

Weren't the rivet holes sealed with a smear of some type of caulking? Those rivet seals look identical.

I think it works (same colors as my RS Z), but green interiors aren't popular.
