I bought the ones from Ricks about 3 years ago and they fit good. I don't know if Ricks (now owned by Ecklers) are the same. I think the brand name was O.E.M.

I hear so many people complain about the repops I am not sure what to get. Rick's has a set for $189 my fear is that they are the same as $89 ones from everywhere where else with that special Eckler's markup.

I found my receipt. Mine came from Ricks part# WW-4R "69 repro wheel well molding kit(4)" $79.95 they fit pretty good and looked very nice.

It's been about two years, but I too bought the repos from Rick's (pre-Eckler's) and against their own advice, I purchased the set. Mistake. Very poor fit, paper thin, not as shiney. By accident I inquired with my local Chevy parts counter, and though expensive, they found three of the four, NOS. So, you might check your dealer or here:

...or, perhaps the quality of the repos has improved.

FWIW.

There are some new and improved (supposedly) wheel moldings out on ebay, I have not tried them yet.

I bought from Classic Industries. And I here everyone complaining about them also. But, with a little careful bending and strategic screw location, they fit really nice.
It is an art.

Ive found them to be hit and miss, even from front to rear in the same set.

Some fit OK, not great. Others are junk and take some work. Would be interested in hearing how the new ones fit.

I got mine from Rick's and they are crap. I'm just gonna go without them (moldings) until someone starts making good ones. I have original sheet metal though. I've heard the repop mouldings fit the repop sheetmetal pretty good. Anyone else heard that?

Ok...I'm going through the process of buying new molding now.
Rick's now has 2 different sets...the WW-4R for $89, and the WW-7 for $189.
Ground Up only has the $89 variety. There are some NOS ones on eBay, but I suspect those will go for well over the $212 they're at now.

So Rick's, the WW-7 write-up states:
"This Camaro reproduction wheel well molding set has been manufactured to original factory specifications using today's modern manufacturing techniques. You will find the fit, finish and function will work superbly for your restoration. In addition, using a reproduction wheel well molding set from Rick's will add authenticity and value to your Camaro."

Sounds good...but has anyone actually used these, as opposed to the WW-4Rs?

Where can I get the best repop wheel opening moldings the will fit? NOS $ is not an option.

That's like asking, "Where's the best place to get shot with a deer rifle, that won't hurt."

But if NOS is not an option, just get ready for the pain.

I've seen repops on ebay that were sold individually. At least that way if you ruin one or two trying to massage them into place, you don't have to buy a whole set.

Jim, I'd be real interested in knowing how they look and fit. I think there's a lot of improvement being made in some trim parts. I bought the more expensive front windshield molding from NPD a few weeks back. Classic Industries brand. Heavyweight box and very nice packaging. I was totally impressed with the quality. They wwere as thick as the factory moldings. Fit better than the originals and the corner clips needed no massaging to fit perfectly. So if the wheel moldings are done as well as the new windshield moldings, I'll get a set. If you get a set please let us know how they fit.
