Hello.
I am doing a complete frontend rebuild and close to the point of installing the coils.
My question is one of proper coil positioning in the upper and lower pocket.
I also read about using a sight hole for proper spring positioning in upper pocket. SIGHT HOLE ?
Anyhow, any advice from those who have installed the 6308s is welcomed.
I plan to use the spring compressor to install.
Thanks
Ray

I believe the manual says to position the top end of the coil aprox 1/2" from the index hole in the subframe. This coil tends to be a bit short of reaching the index hole on each end.

If you look at the spring pocket on top of the subframe, under the upper control arm, you will see a small hole in the circle. That's the sight hole.
The upper tangent end of the spring should be right near that hole.

OK, tell me I am wrong, but I figured the spring could index from the bottom just as well. That hole is tough to see. My car sits level. Like David said the 6308 coils are a little short on both ends. As long as it is the same on both sides does it matter?

If the springs are in the pocket and the car is level, it's fine. The upper pocket is more defined so to say and has the sight/index hole, as the LCA is more ambiguous and has no hole.
The 68-72 A-body cars have the sight hole in the LCA.

I think you are right.

Thanks All for the tips on installing the Moog springs. Sorry I haven't replied till now, but things have been a bit crazy here. THANKS MUCH
I have just completed the clean up and painting of the control arms and plan to press the new bushings and joints in.
I will then be ready for the spring installation.
I plan to use my compressor and will place the spring within a 1/2 inch of index hole.
THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS.
