Then Use A Spot Weld Drill Bit And Drill Out All The Spot Welds Where The Door Skin Was Spot Welded. Very Clean And Easy. 6781camaro Jul 23rd, 08, 06:23 PM I was considering doing the same thing to my 69. Would you have some photos that you can post of that procedure? Thanks JIM MANFRED Jul 24th, 08, 02:37 PM Thanks for the tip Sid69Z's Jul 24th, 08, 03:00 PM Here's a great article on door skin replacement....... http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12761 Daytona Yellow 69 Z/28 Jul 24th, 08, 03:45 PM I was considering doing the same thing to my 69. Would you have some photos that you can post of that procedure? Thanks I just recently swaped the door skin on my 68 RS project. The passenger side door had bondo almost an inch thick in places. I ordered a Goodmark skin and just kind of went at it...... http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o70/x77d80/HPIM1682.jpg http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o70/x77d80/HPIM1684.jpg http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o70/x77d80/HPIM1683.jpg Here I was checking the placement of the skin to make sure I wasn't to far off http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o70/x77d80/HPIM1685.jpg I had to do some body work on the front side as I got a little carried away with the hammer and dolly when installling it. :o http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o70/x77d80/HPIM1688.jpg Daytona Yellow 69 Z/28 Jul 24th, 08, 03:52 PM Here is the door primed http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o70/x77d80/HPIM1692.jpg And back on the car. I had problems with the door gap from the center body line up to the top of the door. The gap below the body line looked really good, from half way up it just kept getting tighter and tighter untill it touched. I finally just got discusted and broke out the grinder and took off about 3/16 off the edge in places and then had to weld the two haves back together.:( In these pics i just welded back and ground the edge again so it will need a tiny bit of mud to smoth out the edge. http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o70/x77d80/HPIM1698.jpg http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o70/x77d80/HPIM1699.jpg |
