I was looking at the Braided hose kit from Spectre with the Magna Clamps. The only thing is i would like to have a black hose. Does anyone make a braided black hose?
Or could the stainless braided hose be painted?

You don't want to paint braided hose, it will come off. Lots of companies make black braided hose these days.

A company called Pi-Thon makes a compression fitting that looks like AN, they look way better than the hose clamp covers. They are hard to install tho, a very tight fit. I use em for my heater hoses, PCV, and radiator overflow.

Summit used to carry them, but they don't anymore. I last found em on the web at some mustang stor, pony motorsports or something?

Jim,
I didnt think the paint would be a good idea, just thought i would ask to see if anyone had done it.
I found the website for Pi-thon = www.pi-thon.com (http://www.pi-thon.com) They do look much better then the clamp covers. They list a few places on the website that sell them.
I found a pic of them on a stock type black hose and that looked good too, so i might just try these on my hoses.

Thanks,
Charlie

I like em, but they work better on a hose that's not "fat". You slip the outer peice over the hose, stuff a split nylon ring into it, between the metal sleeve and the hose, put the inner metal piece over the nipple, and then somehow push the hose over the nipple, start the threads, and screw it down.

I had a heck of a time with the heater hose fittings the last time, they had been on and off maybe 4 times total. The hose is spectre, and it is kinda fat.

For my PCV this time, I used left over teflon core braided fuel hose, that stuff is so slim it went on like a dream and still held tight.

I think the black hose is skinnyer than conventional braid, and als that "good braid" like Earls or russel, may be skinnyer than the cheap spectre stuff.

Someone here linked me into a company that does some cool billet stuff, including hose nipples in 3/4 & 5/8 in different lengths for where the heater hoses attach to the engine, and also stainless allen head pipe plugs that look trick.

Here's a shot of my setup:
The upper rad hose uses hoseclamp covers.

Looks like its going to be hard to get the Pi-thon hoselock fittings. I tried most of the web-sites they have on the distributor list and some of them dont even list Pi-thon under there product lines. The ones that do say they are out of stock. :(
time to take a break and have a beer.... :beers:

Hey, I hit the website I last found em at pretty easy!
Wildponymotorsports (http://www.wildponymotorsports.com/productcart/pc/showsearchresults.asp?resultCnt=20&idcategory=0&idSupplier=10&customfield=0&IDBrand=70)

You can curse me when you try to put them together, but not publicly!

Yeah i found them on that site, but all the sizes i looked up say "Call for availablity" Ill have to try and call them next week. I just have a bad feeling they are going to say there out of stock, like the few other sites i found them on.

Now im starting to think i might just go with the Magna clamps like the ones you have on the upper rad hose, they dont look that bad. I can get them in all red (instead of the red/blue), and ill use my stock rubber black hoses. Im going for a red and black thing to match my car. The block is painted black and i just put a set of black vavle covers on with a red bow-tie.
