I'm looking to purchase a steel cowl hood for my '73. Found one locally that is a goodmark hood new in the box, but the two corners by the windshield are bent up slightly. The guy is selling it because he made the company ship him a new one...which he says showed up about the same way.

I've not looked at the hood personally yet...am just curious if this is an issue. he claims that his body shop that painted his car said it was an easy fix and fixed his at no charge when they painted it.

My question is whether to jump on this hood for $200 or to wait and buy a new one hopefully without this issue. He says it's not that bad, just that he had bought a brand new hood so had insisted on it being right.

Thoughts? I need to get back to this guy ASAP. Apparently others are interested too. thanks!

A new in box GoodMark cowl hood would be only about $125 more, but I realize the truck freight is pretty high nowadays.
My thought is that its a dice roll. Do you feel ok risking $200 for a hood? If so, then go for it.

Can he send you pics of the damage?

He says it's in the box and therefore tough to take pics of. He might do it if I insist. My fear is what you are saying...is it worth it knowing that probably for $200 more I would have a good hood with no issues. I don't know if those corners are commonly bent up or not and if so whether it's easy to bend them back down. thanks for the quickly reply.
