I have been checking into fenders for my car - it's ready to send off to paint - and I have run across something strange. Heartbeat City says that have repro, imported fenders (209.95) and GM Tooling created fenders (759.95). I have had decent luck with HB City so I called and talked with them. They said the difference is night and day and that you will pay at least the $550 difference in prep work for the repro fenders. UGH!!! l:)
What are peoples' experiences out there with repro fenders. I was going to order them from Goodmark but I need to talk to my body guy Monday to see what he says.
Any opinions are welcomed on this...

I would get some repro's because even the NOS ones will require work to look good. However I highly recommend any body parts such as panels be bought locally. This way you can see the part before you leave. I made the local guy take me out back and let me pick my quarters and trunk lid.
200ish for a fender and then paying for stripping, priming, blocking will cost less than 750ish for a fender and then paying for stripping, priming blocking.
I have yet to see any panel nos or repro that I would hang on my car without working it 1st.

goodmark, heartbeat city, dynacorn and others buy them from same china company and put there name on it. they all got tooling marks on top of fender which needs to be adressed also on bottom has same marks. i found out with 4 cars right is better than the left fender for fit to the windsheild. left is way off.on top meeting to windsheild and to door.

Good advice - either fender will need the same amount of work for blocking and priming but the fit is what I am worrying about.

Still looking for info on these - what experiences have people had with the repro fenders?

I've seen Heart Beat City's U.S. stamped fenders, Boy are they nice. Worth every penny of what they're asking if you ask me. I just purchased their tail light panel and trunk lid, Let me tell you they are 1000% better than the re pop foreign stuff

I am sure4 they have a solid product, but even then unless its primable/paintable without needing attention then its still no better in the end than a repro, your still going to have and toss body shop hours at it, which defeats the hi cost and makes the lower cost fender a viable option because in the end it will look as good as a nos and have less $$$ in it.
