hey guys,
i have a friend that installed a manual steering box on his car - replacing the power steering.
he's raving about it and how you can really "feel" the road.
(rack and pinion set up)
does anyone have manual steering here?
how "friendly" is it? i have 8" wide wheels all around.
do you like it? would you recommend it?
thanks in advance!

i just went from full "manual" steering to power steering! absoulty wouldn't switch back! i put all 3rd gen power steering parts on the 67 and the difference to me was well worth the time and small investment.
just my 2 cents

alright! thanks scooter! much appreciated. i know youu can get the power boxes re-worked so they have some tension on them, and maybe this is the way to go.
cheers!

The stiff feel PS boxes are great! You get good feel and don't have any worries turning wide wheels.

If you want to go manual, I've got a 69 box that I just took off this morning that you I'd part with...since I'm going power :)

thanks david. the more i think about this, the more i'm leaning towards getting the power box modified.
thanks for the input!

thanks a ton jim. this post is actually for my '66 chevelle and not my best friend's 68 camaro, the reason i signed up here. (the chevelle forum i found isn't the most friendly and helpful spot in town...)

No problem...was really just joking around.
Surprised it's not "friendly"...
That's a shame.
