68 Ragtop

I am replacing my booster and master cylinder and the new booster input rod is too short causing the brake pedal to be very low.
I want to remove my original rod, which is longer, and use it on the new booster.
I have been trying to rotate the two halves to seperate them, but they dont want to come apart. All I really want to do is swap the rods with the clevice so I can have a normal brake height.
Is a 69 booster different than 68?

I have never opened a booster myself but Ive seen one apart. I think that spring in there is six feet long:) (slight exageration) Seriously it is under pressure and requires special tools to get it apart. One to hold it together and one to turn the half loose. Maybe someone else knows if the rod can be replaced without disassembly.

Top and bottom there are metal tangs that have to be bend out of the way slightly. GM made special tools to bolt to the booster to get enough leverage to rotate it. The spring inside has a lot of pressure on it, BE CAREFUL!
Why not just get a longer clevis for the brake pedal?

Where can I find a longer clevis?
I have 3, they are all the same length.
I don't know why this one I bought on ebay as original rebuilt is shorter, unless 69 is different.
I see in some of your other archived posts the distance from the booster to the clevis pin as 5.75, mine is 6.25.
I have the correct length on the old one, but it doesnt seem to come out easy and now that I know there is a big spring in there and special tools are required, I don't think I want to force it apart.
I am thinking of using a shock extender to lengthen the rod, it just happens to be the same thread size, 3/8-24.
