A '79 Corvette 350 would have a 3970010 block, 462624 heads, and there were nine different 3-character suffixes for the engine plant stamp (depending on Federal, California, and trans type), all of which started with a "Z". The engine plant stamp would be in the format VMMDDZXX, where the V is Flint Engine plant, M's are the month, the D's are the day of the month, and the X's were the second and third suffix letters.
