Well...I guess you learn something new everyday. In my 40 years of messing with cars I have never heard a distributor referred to as a dizzy. :o
Where did the term come from?

I dated a girl in college who was referred to as dizzy. As I recall, she was a distributor (of sorts) too. :)

Steps....I can understand the "down under slang", but the thread was started by a guy from GA. Having been raised in the southern part of the US, I have never heard this term.
Oh well..like I have said ....learn something new everyday!
I have already been taken to the woodshed once this week....another trip can't be that bad. :D

Chad,
Just let me summarize this thread (with some humor):

Chad learned that his DIZZY was from a 1971 Full Size passenger car 400/255 with automatic transmission, and was assembled on April 13th, 1971.:hurray:

Scott learned that a dizzy was another term for distributer.:o

Unreal had a flashback to his school days.:D

Steps informed us that Dizzy" is a Kiwi Aussie slang term.;)

Chad and Scott do have a sense of humor.:beers::beers:

Chad can't spell distriubter.:o

Greg thinks Steps talks funny, but is intertaining.:)

Steps wants to teach us the correct use of the English languge.:noway:

Well....I think that pretty sums this up.

Chad what do you think?

Pretty close...
And Americans do what they are told..
eg
Dont look up stuff in a dictionary when told not to.

Bit of humour (note the spelling) in a heap of bloody dry threads...like "my car runs hot?" "put some water in it" (pun intended) over and over, lightens (notice the spelling) the place up
