I've read somewhere on here I should have 1" lean towards the passenger side...I have 1/2, would that mean that my oem rubber engine mounts are saging? They don't look like they are...but if solid mound would give me another 1/2, that would my may header/stearing box relationship alot more happy :D

I don't think the engine is supposed to lean. It is supposed to be offset. Or maybe I am reading your post wrong. I think it is supposed to be closer to the passenger side 1''.

The offset is accomplished by different height frame stands, so a "lean" is about right. I've never heard of sagging engine mounts. How about a broken mount ?

The offset is 1" to the right and (about) 1/2" down. This was done for clearance at the steering box.

I definetly do not have 1", and I had the motor out 150 miles ago and the engine mounts looked fine...measuring to the air cleaner stud, I get 1/2" towards the pass side...darn, if I could get another 1/2" I'd dancing! any idea how I could get that? solid mounts maybe?

What year of Camaro do you have ? The 67-68's use different mounts than the 69's. Do you have original GM mounts or are they the reproduction pieces of @%*& that are causing so many problems. As stated the offset is 1" to the passenger side but, it is about 1/2" FORWARD, giving you more room at the firewall.

I have a 69 camaro, don't know if the frame mounts are repro or not. got plenty of room at the firewall, and my 2" comp headers fit when I had the 396 in it (I think I had to grind the manual steering box a tad so as to not dent the header). Of course now I have the 489 with .600 raised ports so I had to really grind the box (:)) and put a flat spot on one tube...but if I had 1" and not 1/2 that would have saved the header...I was thinking that I have the correct frame mounts but the engine mounts started to sag a little (stock mounts from NAPA). I triple check my measurments on I'm only 1/2" towards the passenger side...
