i just put my engine together a week or so ago and i have a 160 deg therastat which seems to be doing ok but one of the local guys said i should be running a 190 deg what do you think ? thanks tony

How hot does it run? I prefer about 180, so in the winter you still have good heat etc. Sometimes a 160 might run the car to 180, just depends. How hot does it run?

180* will help burn off any contaminants.

You could run your 160 stat but a 180 stat would be politically correct.

a 160 is for LPG where temp range is 160-175 deg
Petrol u should have 180-190
180 is the std.

thanks for all the input i just got back from a car show on the way up it was running 170 180 on the way home it was about 170 so ill change it but right now thanks agin

As long as your cooling system is up to snuff run 195.
