Hi Folks,
Last September I purchased a beautifully restored 1968 Camaro from the estate of it's original owner. The problem is that it is a six cylinder power glide. The day after I bought it I found a 1969 Impala sedan in poor condition but the 327/235 ran great. After removing the 327 with power glide and scrapping the land yacht I concentrated on the appearance of the Camaro. With over sized Cragar S/S mags and air shocks the car now has the look I want. Last Sunday we removed the six. Today I ordered the motor mount brackets for the 327. This brings me to the questions that I need help with. Will the exhaust manifolds from the 1969 Impala work in the Camaro? Is there any such thing as headers that are worth the price and aggravation of installation? Without changing the cam, or any other internal engine parts, what 4BBl carb./manifold combo. is best? Performance is not my ultimate goal. I just want the car to sound as cool as it looks. Any comments would be appreciated. Anybody want a rebuilt six with power glide??? Thanks

Welcome to Team Camaro
To answer your questions. eh, yes, though you may have to modify the exhaust leaving the engine bay. Best bet would be to fit the manifolds and see what type of clearance you have and go from there.
Manifold, carb combo. Assuming that the motor is basically stock. try a Edelbrock performer RPM and a 600cfm holley. This will give a couple more ponies, but still give improved gas milage over the stock setup. Will also be the first stepping stone on your eventual trip to more hp.
Getting back to the headers though. Look at some of the shorty headers. Thorleys are said to be quite good and easily installed. Hookers as well. There are quite a few threads here on headers. Do a search on the subject and you'll prolly find more than you hoped for. If it doesnt get ocaissionaly frustrating to get it together, how will you realize that you really appreciate it?
