Does anyone know what the current NHRA requirements are for the placement of a saftey loop?

Thanks
Dustin

kiknss, NHRA rules require a driveshaft safety loop on all vehicles running slicks/DOT slicks. The loop must be installed within 6 inches of the front u-joint and must be constructed of at least 1/4 inch steel. Most any of the available universal safety loop kits on the market will suffice or some folks fabricate their own. Hope this helps a bit. If there are any other details that I may have missed hopefully some others on this board will speak up.

the rule is all cars running 13.99 or quicker (any tire) need a loop, except 13.00 and slower with street (dot) tires. basically, 12.99 and faster you need a loop, and a track that is strict will nail you if you run 13.99 on slicks. construction of loop; 1/4 min. thickness by 2" wide steel, or 7/8" X .065 welded steel tubing, minimun, securely mounted within 6" of the front U joint. basically what bert said, but these are the specifics. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
