Can someone with older GM parts books please check a part number for me? It is for a "Spring Repair Unit" #361057 group 7.523. This kit includes shackles, spring rubber bushings, and bolts. My guess is that these original numbers have been superseded along the way. My books don't go back that far. Are these for Camaro?

Thanks, Jb

What year of Camaro - but I believe they are the same from 67 to 81.

You looking for something like this: http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/product.asp?pf_id=721019&dept_id=1823

Oh didn't realize it but you must have a kit and not certain if they are Camaro - siish!!!

To me if they Fit with about a 1/2" Spring Eye to Frame clearance they should be OK.
Just make sure the Spring Eye does not touch the frame when springs are loaded. You can test by placing weight in the trunk to flatten and extend the leaf or leafs whatever you have. Re-Arched springs can cause problems here and you might have to fabricate a slightly longer Shackle to prevent the Spring Eye from bottoming against the Frame. Flattened out springs also cause this problem.

You could check the numbers with a Local Spring Repair Shop.

I do have this kit of NOS shackles. I can't find this number listed anywhere. I am curious if GM used a certain part number for kits used on Chevrolet, and another part number for kits used on maybe Pontiac, and maybe another kit for Buick, etc...

I know that GM used a lot of the same parts for Chevy, Pontiac, Olds, Buick whatever. The only difference was the part number they used for control.

I am curious as to what this kit was intended for.

I walked into the Chevrolet dealer last week. I asked the kid at the counter about the number and if he had old books. I get the blank "RCA Dog" look! The books were there but I don't think he knew how to download them to his terminal!! I'll try another dealer next week If I can find an old, er, a not so young counter person!! (No offense to GM counter guys, but you all know the type!)

Thanks.... JB

Check out the link below. I have found they have the best selection of parts with original GM part numbers. The GM shackle they have is 844GM. That is just one of 4 shackle kits they have for a Camaro.
