Hello,
Has anyone tried bolting on Edelbrock BB heads onto a BB with closed chamber pistons? My current set up is "063" 101CC closed chamber heads with stock pistons. The pistons do have a small pop up to them. Will my compression ratio go way down?
Partsamerica.com has them listed for $1550.00 which does not include a 25% discount, ($1165.00). Sounds like a killer deal.

First off, How do you get the 25% discount???

I have these heads on my 396 with TRW pistons that have a very small dome. The RPM Performer heads were SUPPOSED to have 110CC chambers but when I had them cc'ed, they came out 112cc. So, I milled the heads down .035 and now the chambers are 106cc which results in @ a 9.6 to 9.7 to 1 compression ratio with my pistons.

The valve to piston clearance with my current cam which has a little over .600 lift and 236 degrees duration @ .050 is .0120. Since min. clearance is .0100, I would be a little concerned with your pistons with the larger domes unless they had very deep valve reliefs.

By the way, these heads produce tremendous power and with their good heat dissapation, I run a 150 shot of nitrous without having to retard the timing. Detonation has never been an issue with this combination.

Thanks for the info, I guess partsamerica.com just takes the discount off your purchase? I have never purchased anything from the company. I also emailed Edelbrock, I will let you know what they say, if they respond. It sounds like it is a roll of the dice to see whether they will fit?

Rick, if better ET's and more power are your goal, stay with your cast iron oval ports. You will go ET slower with these or any aluminum head with low to moderate compression. And yes you will lose compression just bolting these heads on.

Dennis, thanks for the words. Hope I can contribute. Just looking to inform the guys here about what really works and what is just marketing. There's a lot of bad info out there and I'd like to help set the record straight.
