I am looking to replace my bumpers on my 68. I thought about getting repop bumpers but i was told by the supplier that the orginal rear bumper guards will not fit on the repop bumpers.
Is this true? I am having a hard time finding a place that actually does rechrome bumpers locally.
What should I be looking for in a repo bumper. Do the rears come with the centre bracket riveted?
Thanks for any help.

Come on guys all I am asking is, will the repop bumpers work with the original bumper gurards.

I asked the same question a while back. Pretty much everyone said they suck except for a couple guys who got lucky. I am sending mine out. Do a search on repo bumpers and there are threads describing issues. I dont know about the guards fitting. Good luck!

For what's it's worth, I put my original delux rear bumper guards on a repop bumper and had no problems what so ever. I hadn't heard of anyone having problems but I guess there have been.

Never mind...just re-read your post. Mine is a 69.

Apparently there are several makers of these bumpers. I would like to know which ones are the best fit. I am sure there are a lot out there who have gone with the repops.
I will do a search and if any of you can steer me towards a manufacturer that works it would be much appreciated.

Brian..check these guys out. http://tricityplating.com/ I am sending mine out to them. I have herad good things about them on this site. Its $220 to straighten/rechrome a bumper but its a lifetime warranty. You might have to wait a couple weeks. I am in the same boat as you. I know your in Canada so check to see what shipping would be. I wouldnt buy any repo unless you look at it 1st. Some say you can see the metal stretchmarks and they are thin and arent bent correctly. Others said they are fine. I looked at thei pics of your car...very nice ! ( nice color:) ) Rechrome yours if you can becasue you know they fit right and you dont want to scratch that black paint with a bumper that isnt fitting right.. Good luck.

I searched locally and there are some pretty good platers withing driving distance. They would probably charge about the same as the US ones with the shipping and handling included. For 120 bucks for a repop and maybe twice that for an original that is rechromed I can see the value in doing the originals over.
The last time I replaced bumpers on any of my cars I found that GM had done a run of the 69s back in the mid 90s. I had a GM worker order me a pair. I think they were 140 apiece and they came with all the GM Part numbers and everything. If only they would do something like that again.
Hey Trax, this is the car that I put the new bumpers on. It was one of the sweetest looking Camaros I have seen. Look Familiar.

I found out the prices for a rechrome and it is ridiculous. 500 to 600 for a Camaro bumper.
I will have to find a set of repops that work. Anyone who has a brand that is better than the others would be appreciated.
