Or at least that's what my body is saying....We played our final soccer game tonight and came out on the short side of a 5-3 score. I signed up to play on our ADULT church team 3 months ago. Hmmm. About 2 games into the season I discovered that the term ADULT includes 17-18 year old KIDS and the other teams were loaded with them!! Don't get me wrong, I had a blast but I realized that I may be better off (and a lot healthier) if I stick to coaching my daughter's team. Anyone know of a 40+ league that isn't out for blood??;)

Then comes in you 40s that day you go out and find the body just dont keep up with the head lol

Mine came when about 50, these guys on the beach with their surf boards...and one kindly (in retspect I think he knew what was going to happen lol) lent me his bigger board.
The surf was a nice forumed left hander
Getting out to the back break was np... made use of the rip, paddled out, counted the waves and got #7
Stood up, for not as long as I intented, and got dumped....
Bloody near thought I was going to drown, coughed up salt water for ages after...
Our kids thought was a huge joke.

30 yrs ago was the last time I caught a good wave.

Me thinks it's time to create a two level league...others may join then as well. As Steptoe pointed out, the body denies reality at times.

MaryBeth, all's not lost yet, I'm 9 years older than you and have taken up 10k runs (I NEVER ran in my life before), I'm at the gym 6 days a week, etc...honestly I feel better than when I was in my 20s. One thing I've found out is that every year I have to work HARDER just to not lost any ground. ugh.
My kids laugh at me, especially when I'm swimming laps at the local YMCA, I make a lot of waves and noise, but don't go very far.

Are you a YMCA member? I love the Y because most people there look worse than me, so I feel better ;-)

Don't let the age bother you.... I'm 42yrs old and i race the Motor Cycle Enduro Races. Out of 305 bikes in my class which was 40 to 50 yrs old called the Senior "C" Class, well i place 24th and some of you 50yrs old guys kicked my but.:beers:

To make this a better story after the race my buddy's that are in there 25 to 30yrs old, didn't evan finish the 85 mile Enduro.:sad:

It took me a solid week to recuperate from that race 7 months ago. So you guys that are active in sports :thumbsup:

He was bloody 92....

At 84 my uncle got tried of hikeing the Blue mountains in Aussie, Milford track, so decided to head to the Himalyas...His kids where worried in case had a heart attack or something....I told hinm ..GO at least u are past your use by date and will die with your boots on lol....so he went and did not come back as frieght either lol
