TH350 is a bolt in replacement for a PG.If you dont plan to do any long haul hwy. driving go with the TH350.If you plan to take trips it it I prefer a TH2004R same lenght as a PG and TH350 and the gear ratios are better than a 700 IMO.

As said, TH350 is a direct swap and you can use the existing cable shifter set-up.

Remove the detent plate and gring in the extra gate for manual 1st gear selection. PG trans lines will bolt up, takes alittle persuasion to get the correct angle for hand threading into trans case. I connect them as I lift the trans into place.

Toms67,

I was there last year, this year the PG is out, the TH350 is in with the help of Chad and Everett (above). The only thing i will add is to visit http://shiftworks.com/camaro.htm#67camaro and get what you need. I used their universal on my 68 - very simple, very easy. I also used existing trans lines, but also added a cooler. I went with the TH350 due to cost, and nobody in my area would build a 200R4 for me. I didn't want the 700 because I didn't want to modify the driveshaft. I want to be able to return the #'s matching car back to original if I ever go that route.

I am swapping from a TH350 to a 700R4. The shiftworks kits as stated will help you out. It all depends on what kind of driving you will be doing. If you will be doing any long hauls or even local interstate driving and you have lets say a 3.55, 3.73 on up rear. I suggest going to an OD. Presently I still have my 350 in and have 3.55 gears. I run between 3000-3500 rpms just keeping up with local traffic. The OD transmission gives you more options. I to found that no one locally wanted to work on or had a 2004R tranny.

I like the 2004R better.
Taller OD & better gear spacing.

How does the 2004R hold up to 500+HP

I believe when built correct they will hold up to more HP. Look through those that sell them and see what they say. I know BTO sells them. They are a bit more expensive, but will handle more HP than the 700R4. If you are looking for used ones they are harder to find.

shift linkage can be modified for a 3rd gear. You will need 3 speed indicator insert for console. http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=camaro6769&Product_Code=IQ-127&Category_Code=CONSOLEPARTS
