Just the last few days on my 69 camaro (350), I notices when I shut it off it pukes about 1/2 cup coolant out the overflow. The car runs great and is not over heating, or even running hot (195 degrees). There is no signs of any other problems. Should I try a new rad cap? The car has an overflow hose without a reservoir tank. Any other suggestions?

Where is the coolant level in the rad after it pukes. Reason I ask is without a recovery tank the level should be about 3 or so inches shy of full , if you fill the rad to the top it will puke every time:thumbsup:

Yup, Russ is right on about that. My car does the same thing if I top up the coolant. It does not puke until you shut off the car and the coolant circulation stops. I keep checking on it from time to time to make sure it does not get too low. I top it up and I put a catch can under the overflow hose and run it in my garage for about 15 minutes. It pukes and then I am good to go again.

Mine hasn't puked since 1970. That's when the coolant recovery system came out on Cadillac’s. I bought the tank the day I read about them. Has there been a car made since without a recovery system???
Oh, here's look at my latest tank. It's only twenty years old now.
