I'm lookin for some advice on whether or not i should remove the subframe of my 75 camaro for cleaning and rebuilding. the car is rust free including the frame, but theres about a quarter inch worth of grime, and all the bushings in the control arms need to be replaced. This is my first restoration, and i want to do it right, and ive been told that i should beadblast and powder coat. how difficult is it, and is it worth it?

imo, i think you should remove it. if you dont and restore it, you might look at it and say "i should have removed the subframe". its not too difficult. if your planning on pulling the motor, not too much more for taking off the subframe. oh, and its worth it as i have my subframe powder coated

The motor is already out, so i guess its coming out then:D. how much did it cost you to powdercoat?and on reassembly, how hard is it to line the frame back up so that it is true?

I suggest you remove the Sub Frame. Sure it will add some time but after you inspect, I'm sure you will have to cut out weakened area on the Body Mount Brackets under the Rubber donuts and TIG in Heavy Washers. Dissemble everything attached and sand blast. I don't recommend Powder Coat I prefer Epoxy Primers and Paint with Acrylic Enamel or Imron. It's much easier to touch up then Powder Coat.

The factory used pins to set it in position. You can use a rod or bolt, but I believe the original pins were stepped. I suggest looking into getting the necessary pins/rod/bolts before pulling it. There should be lots of info on here........do a search..
