From this post last week,

http://www.camaros.net/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=007295

I've taken the liberty of contacting the company about a group buy. I hope they respond back.

Keep me posted, and if there is interest from Innovative, I'll touch base with a few others to see if they might be interested as well.

Just off the top of my head, it looks like you, me and GMJIM are all fairly serious about it.

Glad I read this now. I was just about to call them to order mine! Could you E-mail me if you hear from them? I want one asap

I just spoke with Cort at Innovate Motorsports. He has told me that he is in the process of speaking with his boss regarding a group discount depending on units sold. I have given him the Team Camaro web site and he informed me that he will relay any info to us. I have ordered mine, and he told me that it will be included in the group order if there is one. I told him I would hook mine up asap and relay my findings to all interested on the site. If we can promote a good company with a good product it will benefit all of us.

I'm interested in seeing your results. Them if it's a s good as it seems, I'll be interested in a GP. Any feel for the potential pricing?

I hope to get my car on a chassis dyno yet this summer. It would be pretty cool if I could have this A/F meter in hand to compare to what the diagnostic readings are while running on the dyno. Basically, see how close they are.

The group buy thing is in the works thanks to Everett. I'll be sure to let you all know what I think of the Meter when I get it working. I've been told that it will be shipped Friday. Based on that, I probably won't have it installed for a couple of weeks. I'll do my best to let you know soon.

I may be interested too. I see from the other links that there must be at least 5 units ordered for the group purchase price. Has anyone else shown interest? What is the group price?

Thanks,

Ray

I've been looking at this one:

It is around $140.

Only in America do we have Free Enterprise!! Gotta love it! Thank you Men & Women of the Military for giving us this freedom to do so. A very simple instrument, David. Hmmm.....

David, I believe that is a narrow band unit. The one mentioned above is a wide band unit that lets you measure A/F ratios other than 14.7:1. Basically with the narrow band, you only know that its rich or lean, but it's not very accurate about how much so. The wide band lets you tune to the exact richness you want.

I have narrow band meters similar to this one in both of my cars. One is the Haltech which is rectangular like the Split Second unit, but I think has 20 LED's. The other is an Auto Meter #3375 which is a 2 1/16" round gauge, with the leds around the edge, also 20 I think. Both of these work very well for me as narrow band units.

It would be nice to have a wide band unit for tuning the EFI in my Camaro. Although it may be more cost efficient to just rent one along with dyno time to use it. (But $300 or so is very tempting.)

I saw on a message board:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=393330

that the designer/owner/whomever said that the first discount was at 5 units....

Yes, incidentally, 5 units is our first discount break for dealers. Contact patrick@innovate-tech.com (sales). I will prewarn him. Be aware that our first production run is just about sold out and the next batch is a few weeks away. For a group buy we would ship to one shipping address from which whoever is distributing it can ship it further, essentially treating the group as dealer. But that isn't my bailiwick.

GMJim
Aug 5th, 03, 10:48 AM
He also said that they would ship to one person and that person would distribute them. This group buy thing doesn't sound like it will be easy. But we haven't heard what the discount will be yet.

Forgot to mention that I looked at the link paulm posted. Although I didn't understand some of the stuff they were talking about (us Chevy guys aren't quite that complex!) I did like the outcome of the discussion. The LM-1 is a fine unit!

Maybe Team Chevelle would be interested in this group purchase. Maybe more units = bigger discount?

I know they had a GW control arm group purchase a couple of months back that I would have killed to get in on. To bad the $$$ was just a bit tight for me.

68SSConvt ,
Thanks for straightening me out.
That wide band meter is the first one I've seen for a somewhat reasonable price!

I was looking for a WB meter for several years now. I've made my own, and it works well.

But wow, that thing is great! And for $350 INCLUDING THE SENSOR! That's an awesome deal! Depending on what kind of price break we can get, I'll get one too!

You guys will like these things. Very easy to tune. Usually, I can get the jets correct within one jet size, which is determined at the track.

Just some general info I've learned over the past few months. A popular sensor in the DIY community is a model L1H1 made by NTK I believe. Those things have been like gold - prices from $150 to $400 reported just for the sensor. Bosch makes a cheaper sensor that is used by volkswagen -- model LSU4 that is about $30 - $50. Problem is that there aren't many controllers for the LSU4 sensor. I've been checking out the website at Tech Edge (http://www.techedge.com.au) who has just released a new controller for the less expensive sensor.

Just thought you all might be interested in knowing that the sensor prices are all over the map.

I'm pretty sure that the "group buy" is on! Just waiting for Everett to post. I think it's something like $25 off and free shipping if we buy five units and $35 off and free shipping if we buy ten......

Who's in?

69ProTouring
Aug 6th, 03, 04:03 PM
I am for sure, and I might have at least another 5 guys interested. I contacted Everett, so I'll wait to hear from him on here or in another e-mail.

If anybody is interested, you can go to the Innovate site, click Support and you can download the Instruction manual and quick start manual. Reading these will help understand how this thing works and how it compares to the others.

This meter (according to the instructions on page 12) will accept the Bosch LSU 4.2, Bosch LSU 4, and the NTK L1H1 O2 sensors.

So, we have two people(myself and Scott) interested in the group buy?!?!?!

69ProTouring
Aug 7th, 03, 07:24 AM
I have 5 more besides myself that say they're in.

paulm
Aug 7th, 03, 07:50 AM
OK, we need three more to get 10.

When we know how many we have we can contact them and let them know the number. After that we all call, order, pay and tune!

At 5+ we pay $334 + free shipping
At 10+ we pay $324 + free shipping

RickD
Aug 7th, 03, 07:53 AM
I'm in.

GMJim
Aug 7th, 03, 08:25 AM
Before you guys get all excited about the free shipping and all. Remember that they said they would ship to ONE PLACE, and they can be distributed from there. This may cause some problems and I think it should be clarified by Innovate that this is still the plan. There is no point in free shipping if the guy who gets all of these things has to ship them to the individual buyers? In fact, It may cost more!

Also, you can add one more Meter to your count, (unless you already have)as he (Cort at Innovate) said even though I have ordered mine seperately he would include mine in the total for the discount.
Jim

paulm
Aug 7th, 03, 08:33 AM
I just spoke to him....The deal is free shipping to each individual buyer, not to one person who has to distribute.

He said that we can email him(cort@innovatemotorsports.com) and let him know that we are interested in the camaros.net group buy. When we have ten or more he will let me know and then we can all contact him to pay.

Paul, I'm going to forward the info, so would you let me know anything that Cort passes along to you?

paulm
Aug 7th, 03, 09:03 AM
I didn't mean to step on Everett's deal here....It's just I haven't heard anything from him and sometimes when I am interested in something I get a little impatient!! :D

I will relay any and all information that I get from Cort. The next thing that I should be hearing from him is when we have 10+ people interested....The sooner we get to that number, the sooner we can order out meters!

davidpozzi
Aug 7th, 03, 09:33 AM
Count me in for one.
David

paulm
Aug 7th, 03, 09:44 AM
OK....Game plan change!!!

Cort asked if instead of emailing him, if you could email me(paulmews@stratagaz.com) if you are interested. That way I can contact him when we get over ten......Sorry about that!

How long should we leave this open for people to participate in the group buy? At some point we will need to say that this group buy has expired so that Cort doesn't continue to get contacted from people saying that they are part of the camaros.net deal???

69ProTouring
Aug 7th, 03, 10:09 AM
Paul, good question. I'd sure like to get going ASAP, but also would hate to leave someone out. Maybe if we have 10+ by Monday? What do you think?

RickD
Aug 7th, 03, 01:14 PM
Paul, you have mail. Thanks!

paulm
Aug 7th, 03, 06:31 PM
So far four people have emailed me, so that makes five including me. I think that we can also count Jim(GMJim) and David Pozzi also expressed interest. That makes a total of seven. We only need three more to get the $35 discount!

Everett#2390
Aug 8th, 03, 12:12 AM
Here's the info:

Everett,
Thanks for being patient! This is the first group buy we have participated in so let me know what you think of the details.

5+
$334.00 (Savings of $15.00)
Free UPS Ground Shipping Included (Savings of $10.00)
Total Savings of $25.00!

10+
$324.00 (Savings of $25.00)
Free UPS Ground Shipping Included (Savings of $10.00)
Total Savings of $35.00!

These are per unit prices. Can you organize the payment collection from all the buyers? I don't mind processing individual credit cards. I would need either a phone call or fax from you with all the participants following info:

-Name
-Credit Card Number & Expiration Date
-Billing Address for the credit card you are using
-Shipping Address
-Phone number you can be reached at

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!!!

As paulm said, give the man a call/letter and let him know. Count me in as well.

I apologize for being late, but, I've had to deal with a medical emergency yesterday. Things are much better now.

Thanks Paulm for climbing on board and helping out. I have no hard feelings, just trying to help others out.

I believe we owe the management and others who moderate this board a hearty Thank You and a round of applause for giving us this site to perform an event of this nature. I hope we can do it more often.

So now, we have eight?

Just bringing this post up to the first page of Today's Active Topics.......

paulm
Aug 8th, 03, 04:00 AM
Yes, 8 total!! Two more to go.

Personally I don't want everyone's credit card numbers! I'll work with Cort to make sure you can just call him and pay(leaving me out of the payment loop) as soon as we have ten!

69ProTouring
Aug 8th, 03, 04:48 AM
Cool, we're close.

paulm
Aug 8th, 03, 08:24 AM
OK, I got another email so we are at nine!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I spoke with Cort and I will call him Monday. If on Monday we have ten or more we can close our group buy and we all can call Cort individually to place our order.

I'd hate to leave anyone out though....Worst case though if there is more interest after we close this group buy, Cort said that those interested could put together another group buy with the same cost structure.

P.S. If we can get to 15 buyers we would get an additional $5 discount.

Everett#2390
Aug 8th, 03, 04:02 PM
One more buy !!

We need one more person to submit,

Come on over to the Dark Side!!

Monday by noon I think would be a good cut-off time --- I'd hate to leave somebody out......Think carefully people !!

I spoke with Cort and we can close out the group buy and get the ten order discount with the nine we have or leave it open. It's up to you guys. I'll send an email to all interested parties as well.

When I was talking to Cort, I told him that I found the info about the Innovate A/F meter on the Chevytalk.org/EFI forum where Doug Flynn is a moderator. He told me that Doug personally tested this unit and had great things to say about it. I was pretty happy when I heard that, so I thought I'd pass that along.
