purchased a new gas tank and I plan on coating the exterior. Do I need to put a sealer on the inside of a new tank or can I run it as is? Did the factory seal the original tanks.
Thanks

Thanks Nope, new tanks weren't coated or sealed; they're made from terne-plated steel for corrosion resistance. Z15CAM Aug 13th, 08, 06:47 PM What I did was wet sand the exterior to scuff it up and Sprayed on Zinc Chromate Epoxy Under Coat - looks great and will not rust. I soldered in 2 Brass fittings with threaded plugs for draining fuel - very handy. click Aug 13th, 08, 08:09 PM A few pics here of my new tank with 2 coats of POR clear paint, POR black straps :) Gas Tank (http://www.carsbyjim.com/storage/GasTank/) foreverlookin Aug 13th, 08, 09:07 PM Ditto Jim, I did the same. |
