I pulled a 5.7 out of a police car, I think it's a LO5, I was wondering if the short block would be worth a performance build up. I drove the car home, and it ran good. It has over a hundred thousand miles on it though.

yes- it would be a good starting point.. get some good flat top pistons and balance the bottom end. get the HOT cam kit from GM and re-use the stock roller lifters and associated parts. put a set of vortecs up top with a set of the thinnest steel shim head gaskets you can find with a performer vortec intake manifold.
what you will have is about 400hp that gets close to or better than 20mpg on 89 octane gas and idles silky smooth with 17" of vacuum at 800 rpm, and slightly choppy with 15" of vacuum if you turn it down to 750.
this is what i had in my Nova- except i used an 87 block, which is the same as your 92 block.

I was hoping to hear that! I'll do just that and see how she turns out.
