I finally got my car running after 6 yrs or silence and had the M 21 completely rebuilt during that time. Rebuilder is very reputable so Im gonna assume that everything in there is ok. The shifter I used is a Hurst w/stops. It is hard to get in EVERYgear. I ran through all the gears with the engine running and the car up on jack stands. Do I have something bad out of adjustment? I used a neutral pin but one of the shift arms had to be slightly bent to work. Anyway, looking for suggestions of what to check. thanks, Kevin

As long as your Hurst shifter is properly adjusted, I believe it's safe to assume that the clutch is out of adjustment!.....Do the gears clash while trying to shift?

I dont hear any gears scrape when I changed them. Just before it goes into any gear, it feels like a tight spot. If I shift very slowly, it isn't too noticable but if I shift quick, it feels very tight.

Finally got the car out and drove it for the first time today, shifts much better driving that it did on jackstands.

When my M22 was new, it took several hundred miles before the shifting became smooth.

Jody (here on TC) is mailing my new M-22 to me now. He warned me shifts would be stiff at first and it would need to be broken in. Maybe thats all you need.
