(I have an orange one like it, and right after I bought the orange one, I came across one exactly like yours.. all original. driveable.. in 1976. For sale for $1900! I went home, mentioned to my wife that I was gonna buy another, and she said.. 'if you do, I'm leaving'! Damn! I should have told her to go and bought it!~! :)

My older brother was ask to pick up some cars to crush (recycle) and he new i was looking for a 69 and i called in next day sick to pick her up. bad thing was there was another 67 ss chevelle that i had put all the loose parts in from the camaro (console,ss hub caps,etc) which got crushed before we got back. but i got the car for free!!!

MIke that brings back many memories. When I bought my first 69 Z/28 back in 69 there was an identical Camaro parked right beside it in the back lot. It was a 375 horse car.
On the other side was a Copo 427 in Daytona Yellow.
Life was good back then. Both of them were about 2 to 3 Grand more than my Z and I was just out of college and newly married. So the Z had to do.

Mike it was money well spent! Love the stance and everything about the appearance of your car. Just a beautiful, beautiful car you've got. One of the reasons I bought my SS is it was so refreshing to see a car with a SS hood and correct stripes down the sides (owned enough of these with cowl hoods and Z stripes). I've still got the spoiler, but it's coming off soon. I sold the Convo-Pro rims it had and put ralleys back on, but without the trim rings, they come loose or off anyway every hole shot. Considering the old steel with the caps like yours.

I hope we see more cars done this way. Looks great!

Thanks. It's 2002 BMW Orient Blue Pearl. At night it looks totally black. The more light that hits it, the more blue you can see.

Ha Ha. After my ex totalling my decked out 03 350z, no one drives my cars except my Father, but that was when I was in Iraq. Since I've been back its been only me, myself, and I. Took it for a cruise in Austin not long ago and took it downtown and opened up the cutouts. AMAZING!

Very nice SS Claus. My guess would be that there are not too many first Gen Camaro's in the Philippines and that your car attracts a lot of attention. :thumbsup: for anyone having such cars outside of North America..getting parts, maintaining them is not as easy as it is for the rest of us.

I remember reading that Fred Gibb nearly had a heart attack when he saw the sticker price... Over $7,000 a car!

He was able to arrange a transfer of cars back to GM to be resold to other GM dealers (I believe the term used is "DX"). All cars in the original order of fifty that Gibb placed found homes. According to the redistribution records, Yenko Chevrolet did not receive any COPO 9560 (ZL-1) Camaros. The cars shown in the photo are actually COPO 9561/COPO 9737 (L-72/"Sports Car Conversion") Camaros. These were the cars that Don Yenko convinced GM to build as the basis for his SYC Camaros

Thanks, and yes you are right getting parts is a nightmare. Has to be shipped in from US and if its the wrong part then its just too bad, no way to ship it back.

A friend of mine had this Camaro for a while a few years back (in Dallas). The interior was not completed yet, but even then it was the most awesome Camaro I'd ever seen. Great car!!!

Early (Sep '68) build LA date with Z28, 3.73 posi, heater,
AM radio, M21 only.
Condition:
When Purchased: Had US mag wheels, wider tires, Hurst T shift knob.

1970's
I was involved in road racing, but used it as a daily driver. Replaced battery, one spring bat cable, water pump, added scatter sheild, heavy flywheel and 11" clutch. And, used as a course car at Ontario Speedway, Riverside, LA Fair Grounds, and Laguna Seca. Kept stock otherwise.

1980's
In '81 I decided to clean it up and enter car shows (Super Chevy and Car Craft Street Machine Nat.). One head had the slot for the pushrod guide wear out, and I changed the heads ones with guideplates. Added '68 spoilers to match the '68/early '69 style stripes, purchased all GM parts for cowl induction including Hood from Cone Bros Chevy, had it painted by Solsbee matching the original paint (Left the door jams origional). Added Spring bat cable, and cleaned everything back to origional. Added 5x7 rally wheels (one origional "AD" wheel and Goodyear are in the trunk). At the shows I was told by judges that mine was not correct as I did not have a gloss painted engine compartment, polished valve covers, plated hinges like the correctly restored ones. My paint which matched the origional paint, was too dark when compaired to a re-painted Silver Car that had been featured in magazines. (Larry Mendoza's car had been white when it left the factory, but was now the "correct" silver because he had painted the aftermarket code for Cortez Silver !???) My car was too dull and original to compete with the over restored cars at the time. A picture of my engine compartment from the Car Craft meet was published in the April '82 Hot Rod on page 84 in "Muscle Ducts - Fresh Air from the Factory. I gave up going to shows.

Today: 54,000 miles
15 years ago I took it to the company Christmas party and someone backed into the left front fender. I was able to purchase a NOS fender. "Restoring" it for the last time. The picture is from last month before I pulled the engine to put back the origional heads, now with screw in studs and guideplates. I am also going back to the original bellhousing and flywheel, correct date coded waterpump, and got a good deal on a repro crossram setup for the cherry on top. I have not decided if I will just paint the fender and touch up the rest, or do another complete paint job. The Interior is perfect except the front of the dash pad has curled up.

The motor is ready and will go back in this weekend.
