This is the combo:
454 4 bolt bored .060
stock stroke, forged crank
Performer RPM Air Gap (subject to change)
Holley 850
Hooker headers with 33" primaries, 10" collectors
bowl blended and ported 049 heads with 2.19 and 1.88 undercut valves
Trans right now is a 4 speed, but that may change to a th400 with around a 3000rpm converter
3.55 gears
Here is the cam I am thinking of using...the EA software really shows it to work nice with this combo, making tons of torque down low and across the board. Over 540hp too at around 5500. But there's no substitute for experience...so I come here.

Thats the one im using in my next 396. I like it cause it is a little less torquey then other cams and has more up top. Its going in a 70 nova SS. Sorry to leach of your topic it but can someone tell me if the 350HP 396 had the chrome valve covers I just cant remember if they did.

MoeSS396:
If you are talking about a 69 396 I know that the 325 horse did, so I'm sure the others did as well

thanks i just found it. all 375 horse had them and the later 68 396's all had them as well. it was just the early 350&325 horse ones that had the pumkin look. Any one have a black big block?
