Measure from each end to the transmission mounting holes. If your measurements are equal, you have a small block crossmember. if your measurements show an offset to the passenger side, it is for a big block. Don't trust a picture... measure.

Stick here, the BB hole will have three 90 degree corners and a 45 like my snoopy art.

TH400 crossmember is a tubular piece.

Yep Shane, if it's tubular, it's for a BBC with a TH400.

Not trying to go against the grain here, but my BB crossmember (not original to the car) meets all the measurement requirements listed above, but the hole in the bottom is square, without the diagonal corner cut.
So what did this come off of? I know the guy I bought it from several years ago told me he had taken it from a 67 Camaro BB car.
I have installed it and the 396, 4 speed lines up perfectly to the two bolt mount. I have the correct BB motor mounts and mount frames.
I have always wondered if the diagonal corner was a 69 thing and everyone just considered it the standard?
Just asking what everyone thinks

You can kick a stock BB installation's tranny over and use a SB cross member but it won't be right.

And fwiw, my hopped up, 409 "W" engine went in using ALL of my stock 350SS's stuff! The old "scalloped" chrome valve cover sucker looked like it came from the factory it was that cool an install!

Sucker ran like a SB on steroids too!!

What, w/ it's 4.3725" b x 3.500" s = 420.4"!!!
