My 87Z (700R4) caught fire (12 volt main arced out against the dipstick) 3 years or so ago back. Everything has been repaired mechanically, except for one thing. It won't go into overdrive.
What should I look for, and in what order? It's the only thing keeping me from getting it back on the road.
Thanks!

87 is non computer controlled for shifting. it did have a cable going from transmission to throttle body. only electronics is for lockup.

So, the only thing to check here is the circuit to the transmission (The cable wasn't changed or damaged, and OD worked very well before.)

So, I put some seafoam for transmissions in it, and viola'! Took it out for a drive, ran it up to 55 in third, popped it into OD and in it went!
So, now, I'm putting a new carpet in (I've stripped out (or is it striped?) the interior after I put down some sound deadener, ala a dynamat substitute.
And then.... back on the road as my DD.
