Well I just came home from the Cruise yesterday and also took in the Michigan 3M 400 Nascar race. Had a great time at both events.

I would have to say seeing and meeting the owner of the original 69 Berger Camaro driven by Dick Arons/Gordy Foust sitting outside of Dick Arons engine shop on Mile 12 was the definitely the highlight of my trip. I must have spent at least an hour talking to the owner about his Camaro with only 209 miles showing on the odometer. What a piece of history. He even signed a copy of a photograph with Arons and Foust standing in front of the car back in 1969. He had a load of pictures and documents even some pictures showing the removal of the original 396 engine from the car. Berger ordered a 427 car but it did not come in time so they were able to get a garnet red 396 car and did an engine transplant. Here are a few pictures.

Hey fatblock!

It was my first time to Woodward..I can honestly say that eveyone I met there was great...they sure love their cars just like I love mine.

It was late in the day when I arrived at Booth/Arons ..had to be around 6:30 pm or so. There was only 2 cars in the lot and a shell for and old coupe sitting on a trailer when I arrived. It looks like they were closing up shop. They told me Dick Arons had just left...crap...it would have been great to meet the legend engine builder/driver.

I never had a chance to go inside the shop...never even came across my mind to do so, so I never saw the Boss 429...oh well maybe next year! The owner of the Beger Camaro started it up for me and that was music to my ears. I am sure that they must do excellent engine work so your engine must be a gem.

So your mom lives in Brockville, what a small world..That is a very nice town, as a matter of fact I was there in early August at their Automotion Carshow..it draws in about 650 cars...I took runner up in my class this year.

Congrats Joe on the runner up award.I checked out your photobucket.Nice machine.I see you parked south of the railway tunnel and caboose and sandwiched between Blockhouse and the rowing club.I walk my dog there when i visit my mom. What a great spot for a car show with the mighty Lawrence flowing by.I used to catch Muskys out at the lighthouse by the memorial jet back in the 60,s.Small world for sure.

I like the 2-4-6-8 and the 7-5-3-1 written on the cowl vent panel -- I guess it helps the "ace" mechanic remember which side is which :D

I'll bet that's where they set the plugs to check them.

That's an awsome Camaro! It's owned by Matt Murphy of GMMG and restored by Brian Henderson & Joe Sweezy of the SuperCar Workshop in LaTrobe Pa. They did a great job on it!!!

OK I got it to work...the "s" was missing... www.bootharons.net (http://www.bootharons.net)

Very nice 68 Camaro you have there George ....I bet that it sets you back into your seat when your tromp on it! I've never driven a car with a blower before...somehow that engine sticking through the hood while your driving must send some chills up your spine...Are those your children with you?

Keep the shinny side up! and thanks for the link :)
