I've been searching and searching both here and on the chevelle site
to see what kid of electric fans you big block guys with long water pumps have been able to fit.
i just bought a new big block aluminum radiator and have been looking for a good electric fan setup to install with it.
i dont really have a big cooling issue except for stoplights and sitting in traffic when its hot outside (Texas).
The electric fans will help out at slow speeds. I think with some trimming and offset i can make the Taurus fan work but other than that i have not been able to find anything with a shroud that moves alot of air.
i did find a twin derale setup fron summit that pulls 4000 cfm, its a little too wide tho at 28 inches but could possibly work.
what setup are you guys running? pics would be great also:beers:

I think if you search this site for "overheating" you will find alot of answers.

my old post "This is what I did, maybe overkill or not the most popular fix here on the board but I generally don't like to do thing the easy way...

I did a 16" 2600 cfm pusher fan mounted to the front of the radiator connected to a thermostat switch and a toggle mounted inside the car so I can shut it off when I want. (I really only need it in traffic at red lights) I used a "painless wiring kit".

I also did an 18" flex fan with shroud. And at the advice of this board I installed a 180 thermostat.

Of course an aluminum dual puller fan setup would have done the trick too, but I just don't like to depend on electric fans completely. And I like the look of a mechanical fan under the hood.

Here's some pics - http://1969z28.com/cooling.html (http://1969z28.com/cooling.html) "

Good luck!
