OK, here's how you do the deal in a partnership:

Each "partner" puts up an equal amount of money...say $5K.

You now hold a private or public auction and net proceeds of the auction are split equally between the partners.

Who absconds with, er--I mean holds the cash!? Actually I was thinking that some people wanted a car for themselves... Like me.

I was a fairly early replier (#18) with info and not much begging for more. I'll get more aggressive now.

I have a bag of cash (well, in the bank, but enough to buy a bunch) and would be interested in a decent project car from the bunch...

Too needy?

I have also declared early that I am interested. I have also sent the OP PM. I think he's just overwhelmed with the PMs he's getting since I haven't received a reply. I am still interested and waiting patiently.

This appears to me to be a hook/line/sinker thread. Little to no evidence, bunch of words, excuses, broken promises and a lot of misspelled words. Two pictures that could have come from anywhere. Classic con job by increasing the tempo through a technique of wait, add a few words, wait some more and bait some more. I'd bet you (and I) all got suckered!

Chuck, are you a you self-centered brat or something?.... wtf? Did you not read the part about him working 60 hour weeks? What did you expect him to do, bring you a car from DFW area to Virginia just so you would believe him? Hell, the way you and a bunch of others have spoken to him, bet your *** he could care less what you think or get out of HIS FIND.

FTR, I could care less about the cars and the only reason I follow the thread is because I hope the cars get brought out of hibernation, and in post 8 or something like that I told him how to find who the owner is. And so I followed along, only to read every once in awhile people like you who have no stake whatsoever in HIS FIND badmouthing him. Grow up.

If I did care about those cars I'd have taken my *** and my money to DFW area every weekend and helped him in any way possible, I wouldn't expect squat to transpire over the internet. Sheesh.

I have to agree with those guys who posted that if they found a stash like this they would keep it to themselves at least until they were in my posession rather than take the flak from those of you who have no clue how long and how much work it would take to put a huge deal like this together.

Most of those who think that simply haven't been around here to long and I gather are new or infrequent members. There have been so many neat stories such as Admirals here on Camaros.net, I never dis-believe anything.

It's rare that people post a BS story here because the who's who of 1st generation Camaros hang out here. It would be a very fast way to discredit yourself within the enthusiast community.

I guess its just a sign of the modern "now, now, now" mentallity,

Just because you can go out and buy a burger at 2am, or get an instant decision on a mortgage the same day, and heaven knows what else you can "get fast" over your side of the pond :D :D people these days think the world revolves this quickly for all people and all events. Well often it doesnt, so bitchin and whinin' that some guys full of shyte just because he doesnt get a chance to give everyone the latest scoop on something he didnt even need to share in the first place isn't really fair. I think Admirals a top bloke for sharing this info with us and just wish that I was in the US to be able to meet up with him and progress this myself.

I bought a bodyshop a few months ago because one of my cars needed a respray, so buying a ton of old cars in America to start up a Restoration Business would have been the next step I guess !! :D :D

Keep up the good work fella, and dont be put off by a few narrowminded individuals.

Personally i think you guys are being a bit harsh on Chuck. He was expressing his belief to us that he thinks the thread is a hoax/scam etc... He does have that right.

You must admit this thread has traveled a bit of a windy road to say the least. And no, im not saying its not all legit. Personally i have no knowledge one way or the other.

77wolf10.85
Oct 12th, 08, 08:30 AM
Of course Chuck has that right. But if you throw an accusation, you should base it on something real or know you stand a chance of losing credibility. There's a monster under my bed Daddy. Ok let's look, I'll kick his butt for you.....(said with utmost confidence).

Maybe I'm too dis-interested in the cars to see how Keith could be attempting a scam. I know he hasn't asked me for money and I haven't given him any. That is real. I know I haven't read anybody saying hey I gave Keith Xg's and went down there and couldn't find him. At this point, that is real.

Like I said, I really don't care, just following along. Sorry to continue the side-vein of this thread, but it begged response.
Maybe I came down too hard, but I was tired of some of the stuff I was reading. As someone who roams BFE everyday, there's a chance I may stumble on something someday. Would I share it? yeah sure wtf, you guys would like it more than me. I'd go into it knowing some self-centered individual would accuse me of running a scam, and I'd get right in his face when he did it.

I try to make myself mentally feel like these threads are a bunch of dudes in somebodies garage. Hard to do sometimes, and easy to forget. This deal just struck me as the hard working guy down the street who doesn't come around too often dropping in and saying hey guys I think I found something...... and here directly a kid sittin on a tire pops off with unfounded accusations. He would get set straight pretty quick usually, and over the years that's how we learn to watch what we say.

In the abscence of somebody explaining to me how Keith is trying to scam me, I see no other way to feel on the deal. Again, sorry to sidetrack the thread. I'd rather have kept my mouth shut like I had been.

thorpe67RS
Oct 12th, 08, 09:12 AM
I dont think you sidetracked the thread. The past several posts have been in regards to Chucks response. I understand what you are saying. I was just saying Chuck was highly skeptical and was expressing that feeling. He thought we were being played.

Until proven otherwise i take admiral at his word and say we get back on topic. Me personally... im dying for pics!

OK! Dang, I did not want to sidetrack or hijack the thread. However, to defend myself and counter the addition of verbiage that I did not use or to ideas of intent that
I did not intend to express, here is my final post on this subject matter. I was expressing my discontent and disgust for expending the time, a lot of time, in reading
page after page after page after page after page.......... with the end result of being disappointed from lack of information. Information for the sake of the story to
be considered authentic versus typical internet hocus-pocus. I desired a happy ending or at least a nice score for another hobbyist that gets more and more difficult as
we all get older. Definately not for myself because neither do I have a stake nor do I want a stake in on any transactions associated with this supposed find. By being
suckered, I meant suckered into reading this, what I still think is, a bs thread. 2 months, 283 posts later, it's still a cliff hanger, bs! And if Keith is on the level
and produces some information of real value, such as information that others requested, then I am definately one to man-up and say what needs to be said. Enough said about that!
<P>
To Gringo, Grow up? A self-centered brat? I got your brat and it's shaped like a bratwurst, homey! A kid sittin' on a tire? If you want to have a personal transaction OF
ANY SORT with me then you can start by emailing me directly vice posting it here and we'll see what we can do to hook-up. ndedoghouse@yahoo.com.

Guys settle down! Good things come to those who wait. To you guys that stood up for me, many thanks. To all the non-believers, just dont read the post if you don't like where it's going. The cars are all real but, are we going to get them for a steal? Who knows? He may want way too much for them and maybe that's why they are still there. We will know very soon, I promise!!! It's taking so long because I want to be fair and not greedy. I just want to do it right. If something happens and I can't get a deal or make a little extra money to put into my 67 RS/SS then I will do what I have been meaning to do all along which is let everyone on here know where they are at so y'all can have a shot at them. Hopefully, i can make a little and someone else can make a lot. Either way we should all know something soon because I am getting anxious myself. I am still dreaming of somehow turning this into a business venture and opening my own shop. Hey a guy can dream can't he?

I don't doubt anything about this thread; or Keith for that matter. What needs to be done now (I mentioned this way-back-when) is ask the owner if he has the titles. It's also o.k. at this point to ask him why he has so many cars sitting in barns over all these years. (unless I've missed it) . Whether you're buying one car or 35 cars, it seems certain questions have to be asked and I don't know if that's being done. You're not being "nosey", you're just asking questions that need to be asked. I think we all were hoping these cars belonged to someone who didn't quite know the value; and wanted to "unload" them. I don't think that's the case now. This owner probably knows exactly what he has- not that a great deal can't be made if buying in bulk. On the flip-side, this guy may really want to get rid of these cars and may not be able to pass up a fire-sale... so, keep in mind, he doesn't hold all the cards and must answer some questions.

I talked to the guy and went to see the cars today. He only wants to sell the cars in groups of 10 or more at a time. He will NOT sell one at a time and he said he is going to ask premium prices, which I am not sure what he means by that. He did not seem to know much about the cars but he thinks he does. He said I will just have to make an offer on the cars I want then we can negotiate from there. Most of the guys that have been contacting me interested in this deal only want one or two cars and he will not do that. If you are interested and have the ability to buy 10 or more cars, please PM me and we will go down together to pick which cars you want to make an offer on. We will just have to see what kind of deal we can get. He said the last offer he got on the entire 150 cars was almost a mil. and that was a couple of years ago.

I still wasn't able to take pics of cars in that front building at the owner's request. There is a red '69 Camaro, red '68 Camaro w/factory a/c 327, 2 '68 Firebird convertibles, yellow '67 Camaro, '68 Roadrunner convertible, 6 Corvetts ranging from '71 to '80, '64 Impala SS, '68 Mustang convertible, among others. As you can see in the pics there is a '69 Camaro 327 factory a/c.

Sorry, I don't see a million dollars worth of cars there. 150 total cars? That is steep money. If you figure transport cost, storage cost and selling cost, there is no money there. IMO...

As was said. A sucker is born every minute. I think this guy is blowing smoke up someone's @$$, I can't hardly see a million for that barn full even in mint shape. Mostly plain jane stuff, a bunch of parts missing. I just can't see an average of about 7 grand each. Unless that unphotographed barn has a boat load of rare and desirable stuff.

Reminds me of someone who had a towing company and picked them up for little or nothing thinking they were going to be worth something someday. You've put a LOT of time and effort into this deal only to come away with a bunch of derelict cars. As said, the cars in the other building would need to be really special to even consider traveling there to see them in person.:(
Here's to Keith for coming thru with his word.......:hurray:

Yes, I think you guys are right. Maybe if we hit him up on just the Camaros we might get a decent deal, that is if you want a Camaro for yourself and not to turn a profit. It wouldn't hurt to try. Then again, show him cash and who knows what he might accept.

Very cool stash but I have to agree there's nothing special or particularly valuable from what I see so far. The guy who owns these cars is dreaming and has been watching too many Barrett Jackson auctions.... Admiral thanks for posting this amazing collection of neglected cars and for all the trouble you've gone to to locate the owner and post these pics. It's a damn shame what's become of them and I see nothing so far I'd pay much more than $1000-$2000 for and that's only a few of them. Of course getting them from TX to NH would make it a definate no go. I'm a Camaro guy and have been for 30+ years but to be honest the ones that caught my attention the most is the 3 or so late 60s El Caminos I see in the pics.

I'm always amazed that the guys who want to stash these old cars as an investment never bother to protect them from the elements. Yes, they are under cover (sort of), but how many of them have busted out windows? Looks like a lot of animal dung in there to me also. Still, fun to think of the possibilities. Where's Geraldo Rivera when you need him?

He should of took the million!!! If you wanted to put the time in You can get 2500.00 out of all the pre 73 camaros each by parting them out and ebaying the parts. Just takes way to much time with parting them out.

have I missed something about the other barn? What makes us think they are in any better shape? Anyone who treats cars like this isn't gonna care about the other ones? If this guy was offered a million and didn't take it, he's not playing with a full deck anyhow. thanks to Keith for sharing this pretty cool story.

The dilligence of your work is commendable...

The lack of caretaking of these cars is deplorable...

The mindset of the owner is Not-Playing-with-a-Full-Deckable...

Some cool cars, but "common" in nature - that coupled with their condition makes them not very desirable. He would need to spend a few thousand dollars just cleaning the place up, cleaning the cars, up, and detailing them to even get 1/5 of what he thinks they are worth. It will take hundreds, if not thousands, of man-hours to unload all these cars. This guy needs a reality check... there's NO WAY someone offered him that kind of money. I think he's yanking your chain.

Absolutely. The one mil number is more like what he would LIKE to get for them.

Anyway, thanks for the update and all the time you put into finding out the info. It is still an interesting story. Even though they are mostly plain cars, it's a shame to see them with parts robbed off and vandalized. :(

If someone buys some up, I'd be interested in the citrus green second gen. :D

Finally maybe now some of these na-sayers will button their lips if ever a topic like this comes up again.

I think its a great story .....

So what if a majority of these cars are "plain janes" , yes some have been picked apart or vandilized (broken glass) but I still believe they are in alot better shape(as far as rust goes) then one you would find for sale somewhere else nowdays.

Lets face it most of these cars are getting harder and harder to find and whether or not there is a "copo" or a "Z" in the mix so what !!! If I had the $$$ to go in on this deal .

Again great story and please keep us update on any more progress you make..

Signed
patiently waiting

They don't look like auction numbers to me (I'm the service manager for a used car dealership). They are all in sequence for the most part. Maybe it was his way of keeping track of the titles, etc and which car they go with. Towing company maybe ?

Yea he said he just acquired them over the years. Most of the cars are junk only good for parts but all the camaros i saw were in pretty good shape and i dont even have a clue what a 68 firebird conv is going for these days the roadrunner is orange with black hood only shows 67,000 miles and looks all orig the cars in the front bldg are in really good shape i think i can get some picts maybe next week. It wasent exactley what i was hoping for but there are some cool cars to be had in there.

I think I saw one of those chainsaw slasher-type flicks with a plot something like that. I seem to recall the plot involved hot, but dumb-as-rocks, teenage chicks getting towed away along with their cars. Oh, sorry - I forgot. All slasher films include hot, but dumb-as-rocks teenage chicks. :o

Offer him $250,000 for the whole 150 cars and see what he says. That is 1300 or so per car which could be high. You could then sell off the ones you dont want as they are and make enough money to build the ones you want to keep. No big money to be made in there though that I see based on the neglect and vandalism. May get a couple paid for restored cars out of it though. Mega time investment so far man, shame on them for doubting you.

Hmmmm.... How long ago was that big flood they had in that part of Texas? 15 yrs? which seems about right for the way the cars looked, also looked like they had been under water or in some very nasty situations... almost all had mechanical damage as well which also seems to go along with flood damage.. I am suspecting that he bought the cars from an 'Insurance auction', after such a natural disaster..

PS> I did see a mid fifties Cameo pickup in the lot (if someone buys them, call me on that one!) :)

Wait a little longer let the property go in to foreclosure. Then buy the whole thing land and all for $100,000. Then have the world’s largest garage sale. Or a really big Team Camaro party.
It doesn’t even look like there are enough good parts to make a dozen or so good cars. Still a good story

I dont think they are flood cars could be though. As far as progress if anyone has the money to buy atleast 10 cars i would not mind at all taking you to talk to the owner and we can go down to the bldg all together and you can pick the cars you like and look all you like. That was my intensions all along so just let me know. As far as getting picts of the other bldg i more than likley wont have time as i have already seen all those cars there are some pretty nice cars in there very clean but i am afraid he would want way to much for them but we wont know until we try right?

I don't think they were bought at an insurance auction. what are the chances some insurance company happens to have all these '60s/70s cars? ... I'm still trying to figure out why this owner can't take a day and show Keith everything in both barns. As far as water damage- wouldn't that have to be disclosed (on the titles?)
