: Numbers Match 396/325hp
TimSS Aug 22nd, 08, 06:23 AM Could someone please tell me how much $$$$$ a 68 SS 396/325hp Auto numbers match is worth. Options include AC,tic toc, power windows, rear window defroster, speed warning. The car has no rust, good interior and one poor quality repaint quite a while ago.
Thanks Tim
thorpe67RS Aug 22nd, 08, 07:18 AM Nice car, nice options. If it needs a repaint..i would put it in the 30-35k range.
skipdaddie Aug 22nd, 08, 07:48 AM It depends on a few other factors...what will it take to get it into nice condition? The car would sell in the mid to upper 30's in the US in nice condition. Is the engine compartment detailed? Does the AC and other controls function correctly? Is there bad bodywork underneath that "poor quality repaint"? Does it need tires, brakes, front end work, etc? Anytime I hear poor quality repaint, I tend to think there are other issues as well. If it just needs paint I think $28K and deduct everything else from there.
TimSS Aug 22nd, 08, 03:46 PM The car is for sale in San Francisco CA it was repainted from white to silver a long time ago. It is a LA built car it does not have any smog equimpment were all LA built car built with smog. The engine compartment is original, new tyres on ralleys. He's asking 26K US, looks like i will have to organise an apraisal/valuation.
thorpe67RS Aug 22nd, 08, 04:09 PM As skip said there are indeed a lot of variables as im sure youre already aware. I was quoting the high side with an assumption that everything was good except just needed paint. Based on other variables 26k may or may not be a decent deal. Pics would help tremendously. Lot of info missing to make a really good estimate.

thorpe67RS Aug 22nd, 08, 05:47 PM Was this originally a red car? Do you know. I love Red on Red cars. If the body is real solid i think mid 20s is in the ball park. Its a numbers matching big block with some nice options and a good color combo. As mentioned it would be worth upper 30s in real nice driver condition.
TimSS Aug 22nd, 08, 05:55 PM The car was originally white, the owner tells me that the primer you see is where car park dings and scratches have been repaired most of them look to high up on the body to rust.
skipdaddie Aug 22nd, 08, 08:13 PM If the car was close to me, I would offer $22K and pay as much as 24K. I figure 7K should cover any expenses to get it looking and running good.
67 Plum Aug 22nd, 08, 08:15 PM I would want a pic of the trim tag.Engine pic car looks gold now silver originally white. To make sure pics are from the same car.See if you can get a team member to go look at it for you.The paint in the engine pics doesnt look the same to me either. The A/C compressor is off in the first pic.I am a very skeptical person.
TimSS Aug 22nd, 08, 09:50 PM Thanks everyone I will try to get some more info/photos in the next few days

I see what youre saying. Car does look gold in the engine pic. And there is no hood on the car either.
myyenco Aug 23rd, 08, 12:05 AM Gold looking car pics, looks more like a cowl hood against the wall, and the fuel lines look different in the two engine pics......... imho.
But, power windows, a/c, console guages, # matching 396 car ............ definitely worth further investigating.
